I’ve tested my setup adding each mod one by one starting with SD Skyrim.
Load before Aspen Leaves – Skyrim Performance PLUS. Select smallest versions through the installer to guarantee smallest performance hit. Upgrades the visuals on tons of little things. See “Final Mod Organizer Setup” section. If you have a 4gb VRAM gfx card you should be fine to use the 2k version. The 1k version looks better than base HD Skyrim. Sidenote: Most interiors are darker, which might not be desired for some. Depending on the location, sometimes your performance will be better, sometimes worse, but not by much. Compatible and recommended to use with ELE. DL: “Relighting Skyrim – without JIT (Only Legendary)”. Despite the name, you do not need to have an ENB. Opinions differ on Depth of Field but if you don’t mind it, it helps mask the LOD’s (long distance low quality graphics). Use the “Suggested Settings” page as a starting point and then play around until you’re happy. DL in Optional section: ENB Particle Patch Patch.DL: ONE MOUNTAIN – MESHES – All-in-one – FOMOD Installer.Performance impact: Base Skyrim optimized prior to this could run on a toaster, but after this you’ll need at least a low tier modern machine.

Under optional mods: DL “High Definition DLC for ModOrganizer Users (Part 2 of 2- Extract me)” Install manually through MO.DL “High Definition Base Game Textures For Everyone (Part 1 of 2)”.Optional section includes mods to upgrade the graphics with a low impact on performance. The essential section will provide you with a an optimized HD vanilla Skyrim. JK’s Cities – Lite and SuperLite OR Dawn of Skyrim – Director’s Cut. DL main file and then install Lite version in MO. Necessary only if you are using Purity and/or Relighting Skyrim. Adding NPC’s can have the same effect but not as much of an impact. ETaC / JK’s / DoS town/city overhauls can be performance intensive so if you’re struggling from just updating the visuals, you should skip them. Regarding the mods below, I’ve only included below what I’ve found to work together. I wouldn’t attempt to install every single mod unless you are sure of what you’re doing. Optional recommendations are mods that are cool but some might be complex to install and run without a problem. The essential recommendations should change Skyrim enough to make a difference while leaving your game stable. Starting from this section on, nothing is truly necessary.
